Chanakya Niti 8.1
अधमा धनमिच्छन्ति धनमानौ च मध्यमाः ।
उत्तमा मानमिच्छन्ति मानो हि महतां धनम्
Meaning · English
The lowest want money. The middle want money and respect. The best want respect alone, because respect is the wealth of the great.

नीच लोग धन चाहते हैं, बीच के लोग धन और मान दोनों, और उत्तम लोग सिर्फ मान चाहते हैं। बड़ों का असली धन उनका मान ही है।
