Five Jewels at Dawn

Ganesha Pancharatnam 6

Meaning · English

Whoever recites these five jewels of Ganesha each dawn with care, keeping him in the heart, soon gains health, faultlessness, good speech, good children, steady long life, eightfold fortune.

The closing verse says who the hymn is for and what it says follows. What it asks is small: say the five jewels every morning, say them with care, and hold Ganesha in mind while the words come out. The list of gifts is the hymn's own. Health of body. A life free of faults. A gift for good words. Children who turn out well. A long life that stays settled. And eight kinds of fortune, all arriving soon, not someday.

Picture a path worn across a lawn by someone who crosses it every morning. No one dug it. A single walk changes almost nothing, yet within weeks the grass parts and the way is plain. The dawn recitation works like those steps: small, repeated, done with attention, and the hymn says the good things arrive along it soon.
