Thus, Arjun, sinless one, I have spoken to you this most secret teaching of the scriptures. Understanding it, a person becomes enlightened, and, O descendant of Bharat, has accomplished all that was to be accomplished.

Krishna closes the chapter by naming what he has just given. Three words carry it. Guhya-tamam means most secret: guhya is hidden, and tamam makes it the most of that. It is hidden not because it is locked away but because it is easy to hear and miss. Shastra means scripture, a teaching that governs how one lives. Krita-kritya joins two forms of the root kri, to do: one who has done what was to be done. Buddhi-man means one whose buddhi, the discerning mind, is awake. The plain sense: grasp this teaching and the mind becomes clear, and the sense of unfinished business falls away. Krishna gives the reason through the chapter itself. Arjun is torn between duties and fears, always chasing the next task. Knowing the Supreme Person, he says, replaces that restlessness with a settled completeness. He calls Arjun anagha, sinless, because the listener must be free of resentment and fault-finding to take it in. The commentators differ. Shankara reads the fulfilment as liberation through knowledge of the one Self. Ramanuja reads it as knowing God as the Supreme Person and being devoted to him. Madhva reads it as knowing God's utter difference and supremacy, which brings his grace. The verse asks the listener to understand, not merely to hear.

A traveler keeps checking his pockets at every station, sure something is missing. Then he finds the ticket for the whole journey, tucked in his coat, and sits back. The checking stops. The ticket is the understanding Krishna has given, and the stopped checking is the sense that nothing remains to be done.

1. Tonight, write down the three things you feel most unfinished about. Keep it to five minutes. 2. Beside each, mark whether it is a real task you can act on or a worry that only repeats. 3. Choose one real task and set a time tomorrow for it. 4. For the worries, say aloud once: "This is not mine to finish tonight." Notice whether your shoulders loosen.

A mother sits at the kitchen table at eleven at night. The children are asleep, the dishes are done, and still she runs through the list: the form due Friday, the call she forgot, the relative she has not visited. She feels behind, though nothing more can be done tonight. Krishna's claim is that understanding brings a kind of completeness. In her moment, that begins by seeing the difference between work that is hers to do and the restless feeling that follows after it is done. She sorts the list. The form gets a time tomorrow. The rest she lets rest. The teaching, as Krishna gives it, goes further than a tidy list, since it rests on knowing the Supreme Person, but the first step is the same: seeing clearly what is yours. Ordinary experience agrees that a mind clear about its tasks sleeps better than one circling them. The limit is plain. The verse does not promise an empty to-do list, nor does it remove real worry about a child or a bill. It does not replace a doctor if the sleeplessness lasts.
