सत्यं ज्ञानमनन्तं नित्यमनाकाशं परमाकाशं गोष्ठप्राङ्गणरिङ्गणलोलमनायासं परमायासम् । मायाकल्पितनानाकारमनाकारं भुवनाकारं क्ष्मामानाथमनाथं प्रणमत गोविन्दं परमानन्दम्
Meaning · English
Truth, knowledge, endless, ever-present, beyond all space; crawling in the cowherd's yard; formless, yet shaped as the world; Lord with no lord. Bow to Govinda, highest joy.
The opening words are the plainest names for the real: true, knowing, without end, never not there. It is not space, and yet it is the highest space, the room that holds every room. The same one is a child crawling around a cowherd's yard, restless to play. Nothing costs it effort, yet it tires itself out. Illusion makes it seem many-shaped. It has no shape, and the whole world is its shape. It rules everything and answers to no one. That one is Govinda, joy itself.
Picture the full moon caught in a bucket of water in a farmyard. A child can rock the bucket and make it wobble, yet the moon is whole and unmoved overhead. The vast and the small sit together the same way here: the endless one, fully present in a child crawling in the dirt.

सत्य, ज्ञान, अनंत, नित्य, आकाश से परे; ग्वाले के आँगन में घुटनों के बल चलता; निराकार, फिर भी जगत के रूप में; ऐसा स्वामी जिसका कोई स्वामी नहीं। परम आनंद गोविंद को नमन।
आरंभ के शब्द सत्य के सबसे सीधे नाम हैं: सच्चा, जानने वाला, अंतहीन, सदा उपस्थित। वह आकाश नहीं है, फिर भी वही परम आकाश है, वह स्थान जिसमें हर स्थान समाया है। वही एक ग्वाले के आँगन में घुटनों के बल घूमता बालक है, खेलने को अधीर। उसे किसी काम में श्रम नहीं लगता, फिर भी वह स्वयं को थका लेता है। माया उसे अनेक रूपों वाला दिखाती है। उसका कोई रूप नहीं, और सारा जगत उसी का रूप है। वह सब पर शासन करता है और किसी के अधीन नहीं। वही गोविंद है, स्वयं आनंद।
कल्पना कीजिए कि किसान के आँगन में रखी पानी की बाल्टी में पूर्णिमा का चाँद उतर आया है। कोई बच्चा बाल्टी हिलाकर उसे डगमगा सकता है, फिर भी ऊपर आकाश में चाँद पूरा और अडिग रहता है। यहाँ विराट और लघु इसी तरह साथ बैठे हैं: वह अनंत, धूल में घुटनों के बल चलते एक बालक में पूरा का पूरा उपस्थित।
