Then Bhargava Vaidarbhi asked him, Sir, how many gods sustain the creation, how many bring it to light, and which of them is the greatest
A student asks about the hidden forces that keep the physical world running. He wants to know the number of powers responsible for maintaining existence and those that make it visible or active. Finally, he asks for the hierarchy of these forces to understand which one holds the primary authority over all others.
Think of a complex clock. Many small gears and springs work together to keep the hands moving. While every wheel is necessary for the clock to function, there is one main spring that provides the power for everything else. The gears are the sustaining forces; the spring is the greatest.
