Origin of Vitality

Meaning · English

Kausalya Ashvalayana asked, where does this life force originate and how does it enter the body? How does it divide, settle, and leave? How does it support what is outside, and what is within?

Kausalya asks about the nature of life. He wants to know the source of the vital energy that animates a person. He asks how this energy comes into this body and divides itself to manage different functions. Finally, he asks how, by what means, it departs from the body, and how it supports what is outside (the external world) and what is within (the individual's body and being).

Consider a house where electricity flows through a main line and then splits into different circuits to power the lights, the heater, and the fridge. The life force works like this current, dividing itself to power various systems of the body from a single source.
