शक्तिचक्रसन्धाने विश्वसंहारः

When the wheel of powers is joined together, the whole universe is withdrawn.

Four words carry it. Shakti is power: what Shiva, the one consciousness, is able to do. Chakra is a wheel, a circle. Here it is the whole ring of those powers turning together as the world. Sandhana is joining, fitting parts so that no gap is left. Samhara is drawing back, gathering in, the opposite of sending out. Vishva is the whole universe. So the sutra says that when the circle of powers is joined, the universe is gathered back. The word is gathering, not smashing. What was sent out returns to where it was sent from. It rests on 1.5. If the sudden upsurge is Bhairava, Shiva in his fierce form, then at that moment the powers that spread the world are met at their source. That is why the sutra belongs to the shambhava way, the way of Shiva himself. It offers no steps and no tool, only the upsurge and what it does to the many things. Kshemaraja, in his Vimarshini, takes the wheel to be the full circle of Shiva's powers and the drawing back to be the world resting in its source. Bhaskara's Varttika adds that for the yogi in whom this happens, the difference between absorption and coming out of it falls away.

1. Sit where the senses are busy, with sounds, light and the body's touch all present. 2. Do not pick one thing. Let sight, sound, touch and thought be one circle turning together. 3. When something rises suddenly, a sound or a thought, meet it as part of that circle and let the rest gather toward it. 4. When the mind runs off after a single thing, bring it back to the whole circle. 5. Stop after ten minutes.

जब शक्तियों का चक्र जुड़ जाता है, तब समूचा विश्व समेट लिया जाता है।

चार शब्द इसे उठाए हुए हैं। शक्ति का अर्थ है सामर्थ्य: वह सब जो शिव, वह एक चेतना, कर सकने में समर्थ है। चक्र एक पहिया है, एक घेरा। यहाँ वह उन सब शक्तियों का पूरा घेरा है जो एक साथ घूमकर जगत बनता है। संधान जोड़ना है, अंगों को इस तरह बिठाना कि कोई खाली जगह न बचे। संहार भीतर खींच लेना है, बटोर लेना, बाहर भेजने का उलटा। विश्व पूरा ब्रह्मांड है। तो सूत्र कहता है कि जब शक्तियों का घेरा जुड़ जाता है, तब ब्रह्मांड वापस समेट लिया जाता है। शब्द समेटना है, तोड़ देना नहीं। जो बाहर भेजा गया था, वह वहीं लौट आता है जहाँ से भेजा गया था। यह १.५ पर टिका है। यदि अचानक उमड़ना भैरव है, शिव का उग्र रूप, तो उसी क्षण जगत को फैलाने वाली शक्तियाँ अपने मूल पर ही मिल जाती हैं। इसी कारण यह सूत्र शांभव उपाय का है, स्वयं शिव के मार्ग का। यह न कोई सीढ़ी देता है, न कोई साधन, केवल उमड़ना और अनेक वस्तुओं पर उसका प्रभाव। क्षेमराज अपनी विमर्शिनी में चक्र को शिव की शक्तियों का पूरा घेरा और संहार को जगत का अपने मूल में विश्राम मानते हैं। भास्कर की वार्त्तिक जोड़ती है कि जिस योगी में यह घटता है, उसके लिए समाधि और उससे बाहर आने का भेद मिट जाता है।

१. ऐसी जगह बैठो जहाँ इंद्रियाँ व्यस्त हों, ध्वनि, प्रकाश और देह का स्पर्श सब मौजूद हों। २. किसी एक चीज़ को मत चुनो। देखना, सुनना, छूना और सोचना एक ही घेरे में साथ घूमने दो। ३. जब अचानक कुछ उठे, कोई आवाज़ या कोई विचार, उसे उसी घेरे का हिस्सा मानकर मिलो और बाक़ी को उसकी ओर सिमटने दो। ४. जब मन किसी एक चीज़ के पीछे भाग जाए, उसे पूरे घेरे में लौटा लाओ। ५. दस मिनट बाद रुक जाओ।
