Sankatanashana Ganesha Stotram 7

Meaning · English

Whoever recites this hymn to Ganapati gains its fruit within six months, and within a year attains accomplishment as well. Of this there is no doubt.

The hymn puts a clock on its promise. The word for reciting points to steady, repeated, half-murmured practice, not a single reading. Kept up for six months, it brings the fruit, a result one can name. Kept up for a full year, the hymn speaks of accomplishment: not one answer received, but the practice itself reaching completion. The closing words, there is no doubt here, are the hymn vouching for itself plainly.

Someone crosses the same lawn by the same line every day. Within a few months a faint track shows in the grass. After a full year it is a hard, bare path anyone can follow. The six months and the year work the same way: an early visible result, then something settled and lasting from the same repeated steps.
