May my mind find its delight in the sky-clad one, glad in the mountain king's daughter and the bright horizons, whose kind glances hold back unbearable trouble.
The mountain king's daughter is Parvati, and Shiva is her companion in play. His heart is glad with her and with the bright, wide horizons. Sky-clad means he wears nothing but the directions themselves. His kind sideways glances come one after another, and they stop troubles too heavy for anyone to bear. After all that, the poet asks for one small thing: that his own mind find its enjoyment in this being, the way a mind settles on a favorite pastime.
A child climbs a wobbly chair while a parent cooks. The parent glances over, just once, and the child steps down before anything tips. No shout, no grab. The look did it. Shiva's kind glances work like that: a steady, watching eye that stops the trouble before it lands.

मेरा मन उस दिगंबर में आनंद पाए, जो पर्वतराज की पुत्री और उजली दिशाओं में प्रसन्न रहता है, जिसकी कृपा-भरी दृष्टि असहनीय संकटों को रोक देती है।
पर्वतराज की पुत्री पार्वती है, और शिव उसका क्रीड़ा-साथी है। उसका हृदय उसके साथ और उजली, विस्तृत दिशाओं के साथ प्रसन्न रहता है। दिगंबर का अर्थ है कि वह दिशाओं के सिवा और कुछ नहीं पहनता। उसकी कृपा-भरी तिरछी दृष्टियाँ एक के बाद एक आती हैं, और वे उन संकटों को रोक देती हैं जो किसी के लिए भी सहने में बहुत भारी हों। इतना सब कहने के बाद कवि एक छोटी-सी चीज़ माँगता है कि उसका अपना मन इसी सत्ता में आनंद पाए, जैसे मन अपने किसी प्रिय विनोद में रम जाता है।
माँ या पिता खाना पका रहे हैं, तभी एक बच्चा डगमगाती कुर्सी पर चढ़ जाता है। वे उधर देखते हैं, बस एक बार, और कुछ भी गिरने से पहले बच्चा नीचे उतर आता है। न कोई डाँट, न कोई झपट। उस दृष्टि ने ही काम कर दिया। शिव की कृपा-भरी दृष्टियाँ ऐसे ही काम करती हैं, जैसे एक स्थिर, सजग आँख जो संकट को आ पड़ने से पहले ही रोक देती है।
