Three Sides of Brahman

Shvetashvatara Upanishad 1.12

Know this, always within the self; nothing beyond it remains to learn. Enjoyer, enjoyed, and the one who moves both: grasp these and the whole is told. Brahman is threefold.

The one thing worth knowing is not far off. It rests inside each person, all the time, and once it is known no further subject is left. The seer then lays out the whole in three parts. The enjoyer is the individual self, the one who tastes experience. The enjoyed is the world of matter that it tastes. The mover is God, who sets both going. These are not three separate things. Together they are Brahman, seen from three sides.

Picture a playground swing: the child riding it, the seat and chains that carry her, and the parent behind who gives each push. Take any one away and there is no swinging. The rider is the self that experiences, the swing is the world it experiences, and the push is God, who moves both. Together they make one event.
