Meaning · English
Vyasa's words, a spotless lotus: Gita-fragrant, tales for filaments, opened by Hari's stories, sipped daily by good people, its bees. May this Mahabharata clear our age's grime, for our good.
The whole Mahabharata is pictured as one flower grown from the words of Vyasa, son of Parashara. It is clean, without a stain. Its strong scent is what the Gita teaches. Its many side stories are the fine threads at its center, and the stories of Hari are what open it fully. Good people come back to it every day, gladly, the way bees return for nectar. The prayer asks that it wash away the grime of this hard age and work for our good.
Someone is cooking with cardamom at the back of a large house. You step through the front door and the smell is already there, in the hall, on the stairs, in every room. The house is the long epic with all its stories. The Gita is that one scent that has filled the whole place and greets you first.
