Meaning · English
Gods and those who offer worship, with Vayu as their keeper, sit close to faith and honor it. Faith is won by the heart's intent; by faith, wealth is won.
Gods and human worshippers alike come close to faith and revere it, under the keeping of Vayu, the wind. Sāyaṇa takes that keeping as the life-breath that carries the rite; others read it as Vayu standing guard over the worshippers. Faith is not handed over from outside. It is reached through intention that rises in the heart, a real wanting to give. Once reached, faith is the means by which good things come: wealth, the goods a household lives on.
Two people carry the same bowl of food to a neighbour. One goes because a list says so. The other has been thinking of that neighbour all morning. The bowl is identical. What differs is what went in before the hands moved. That inner wanting is the heart's intent, and the faith it grows is what makes the gift whole.
