अजामेकां लोहितशुक्लकृष्णां बह्वीः प्रजाः सृजमानां सरूपाः । अजो ह्येको जुषमाणोऽनुशेते जहात्येनां भुक्तभोगामजोऽन्यः

Meaning · English

An unborn female, red, white and black, bears many offspring like herself. One unborn male stays beside her, enjoying her; another unborn male leaves her, done with her pleasures.

Three figures appear, and none of them was ever born. A female, colored red, white and black, keeps giving birth to many offspring that look like her, so the world of things comes from a source made of the same stuff. One male stays beside her, wrapped up in what she offers. A second male, just as unborn, has had his fill and walks away. The two do not differ in where they came from. They differ only in whether they stay or leave.

A film runs on a loop in a cinema, every scene made of the same projected light. Two people came in through the same door. One stays seated, held by each scene. The other has seen enough and walks out. The film is the colored female; the viewers are the one who stays and the one who leaves.

एक अजन्मी स्त्री, जो लाल, सफ़ेद और काली है, अपने ही जैसी अनेक संतानों को जन्म देती है। एक अजन्मा पुरुष उसके पास रहकर उसका भोग करता है; दूसरा अजन्मा पुरुष उसके भोगों से तृप्त होकर उसे छोड़ देता है।

तीन आकृतियाँ सामने आती हैं, और उनमें से किसी का भी कभी जन्म नहीं हुआ। लाल, सफ़ेद और काले रंग वाली एक स्त्री अपने जैसी दिखने वाली अनेक संतानों को जन्म देती रहती है, इसलिए वस्तुओं का संसार ऐसे स्रोत से आता है जो उन्हीं के समान तत्व से बना है। एक पुरुष उसके पास रहता है, उसकी दी हुई चीज़ों में उलझा हुआ। दूसरा पुरुष भी उतना ही अजन्मा है। उसका मन भर चुका है और वह चला जाता है। दोनों अपने उद्गम में भिन्न नहीं हैं। उनमें अंतर केवल इतना है कि एक ठहरता है और दूसरा चला जाता है।

एक सिनेमाघर में एक फ़िल्म बार-बार चलती रहती है, और उसका हर दृश्य उसी प्रक्षेपित प्रकाश से बना है। दो लोग एक ही द्वार से भीतर आए थे। एक बैठा रहता है, हर दृश्य में बँधा हुआ। दूसरा पर्याप्त देख चुका है और बाहर निकल जाता है। फ़िल्म वह रंगीन स्त्री है; दर्शक वे दोनों हैं, एक जो ठहरता है और एक जो चला जाता है।
