No Master, No Maker
Shvetashvatara Upanishad 6.9
न तस्य कश्चित्पतिरस्ति लोके न चेशिता नैव च तस्य लिङ्गम् । स कारणं करणाधिपाधिपो न चास्य कश्चिज्जनिता न चाधिपः
Meaning · English
Nothing in the world masters or governs him; no mark points to him. He is the cause, above even the powers that run the senses; no one fathered him, none rules him.
The denials close off every way one thing usually depends on another. He has no master who owns him and no one who directs him. He has no mark, no telltale sign from which he could be worked out, the way smoke lets you work out fire. Then comes the positive claim: he is the cause, and he rules the powers that run the senses. Last, no one fathered him, and no one rules over him. Everything else has a cause behind it; he is the cause and has none.
On a sundial, a shadow moves across the hours, and every mark on the face answers to the sun. Yet the sun casts no shadow on the dial, and nothing on the dial winds it. The senses work under their governors, and those answer to him; he leaves no mark among them and nothing sets him going.

संसार में न कोई उसका स्वामी है, न कोई उस पर शासन करता है; कोई चिह्न उसकी ओर संकेत नहीं करता। वही कारण है, इंद्रियों को चलाने वाली शक्तियों से भी ऊपर; न किसी ने उसे जन्म दिया, न कोई उस पर शासन करता है।
ये निषेध उन सभी मार्गों को बंद कर देते हैं जिनसे सामान्यतः एक वस्तु दूसरी पर निर्भर होती है। न उसका कोई स्वामी है जो उस पर अधिकार रखे, न कोई जो उसे निर्देश दे। उसका कोई चिह्न नहीं, कोई ऐसा संकेत नहीं जिससे उसका अनुमान लगाया जा सके, जैसे धुएँ से आग का अनुमान लगाया जाता है। फिर आता है सकारात्मक कथन: वही कारण है, और वही इंद्रियों को चलाने वाली शक्तियों का शासक है। अंत में, न किसी ने उसे जन्म दिया, और न कोई उस पर शासन करता है। बाकी सबके पीछे कोई कारण है; वह स्वयं कारण है और उसका कोई कारण नहीं।
