Rama Raksha Stotram 30
Meaning · English
Rama is my mother, Ramachandra my father; Rama my master, Ramachandra my friend. Merciful Ramachandra is everything I own. I know no other, truly none, none.
The speaker lists the people a life leans on and gives every place to Rama. Mother, who feeds and soothes. Father, who protects and provides. Master, whom one serves and takes direction from. Friend, who walks alongside as an equal. Then it widens: he is everything I have, and the one word added about him is kind. The close says the same thing three times, each time barer: I know no other, truly none, none. It reads less like an argument than like someone who has stopped looking.
Picture an old phone with speed-dial keys: one for mother, two for father, three for the boss, four for a friend. Now every key is set to the same number. Whichever you press, the same voice answers. The verse does this with relationships: each kind of care a person might reach for leads back to one person.
