Meaning · English

The whole world praises you, crying victory, victory. Your jingling anklets charmed the lord of beings, lord of dancers, and you love the song and dance you share.

The opening is a crowd of voices. Everything in the world is busy praising her, and the praise is one word said over and over: victory, victory. Then the sound moves to her feet. The jingling syllables are not words with meanings. They copy the sound of anklet bells. That sound was enough to captivate Shiva, called here lord of beings. He is also the lord of dancers and the half-woman, half-man dancer, and she loves the dance and singing they make together.

Think of a couple who have danced together for years. One taps a heel and the other is already turning, with no signal needed. The jingle of her anklets works like that heel tap. The god of all beings does not need persuading. The small sound alone draws him into the dance they share.
