Meaning · English
Holding all acts, desires, scents, tastes, all this world, silent, untroubled, the self in my heart is Brahman. At death I join it. Sure of this, one has no doubt.
The list from before returns: every action, every wish, every smell and taste belongs to one reality that holds the whole world. It does not speak and it is not anxious, because it lacks nothing. Then comes the step: that same reality is the self inside my own heart, and it is Brahman, the whole of what is. Shandilya expects, on leaving this life, to go into it. Whoever is sure of this has no doubt left. His name is said twice to close the teaching.
A glass of water scooped from a lake is the same water as the lake. Pour it back and nothing is lost; it simply stops being separate. The water in the glass is the self in the heart, the lake is Brahman, and pouring it back is what Shandilya expects at death.
