Meaning · English
Her clear brow glows soft as a lotus petal. Home of every grace, she moves like playful swans. Bees crowd the lilies in her hair. Victory, mountain's daughter.
The hymn paints her in three strokes. First the forehead: clear, unmarked, glowing as softly as a lotus petal. Next her movement: she is the home of every graceful art, and she moves with the unhurried, playful sway of swans. Last her hair: blue water-lilies and bakula blossoms woven in, so fresh that bees crowd around them. The closing line keeps her other names beside these: slayer of the buffalo demon, with lovely coiled hair, daughter of the mountain.
Think of a braid strung with fresh jasmine at a wedding. You smell it across the room before you see who is wearing it, and a bee or two follows her in from the garden. That is the kind of beauty described: flowers so alive in her hair that they still pull bees toward them.
