The sage told them to live here for one year with discipline, self-control, and trust. Afterward, they could ask any questions he could answer.

The teacher sets a condition for the students. He requires a year of practice involving austerity, a focused lifestyle of celibacy, and sincere faith. This period serves as a prerequisite. Only after this time has passed does he grant them permission to bring their inquiries to him. He promises to share everything he knows in response to whatever they wish to ask.

A gardener lets a seed sit in the soil through a full season before expecting a bloom. The waiting period is not a delay but a requirement for growth. This year of discipline is the soil that prepares the students' minds to receive and hold the answers they seek.
