The Source of Life
Prashna Upanishad 1.14
Meaning · English
The Creator is found in food. From this substance comes the seed, and from that seed all living beings are born into the world.
Prajapati is the creative force of the universe. Here, that force is identified with food, the basic physical sustenance. Food provides the energy and material needed to produce seed. This seed then acts as the blueprint and vehicle for new life. Everything that breathes and grows begins with this simple chain: the creative energy becomes nourishment, which becomes the seed, which becomes a living creature.
Think of a small apple seed planted in soil. The soil and water provide the nutrients that fuel the seed's growth into a massive tree. The nutrients are the hidden energy that allows the biological blueprint to unfold into a physical form.
