An Old Secret Offered

राम राम महाबाहो शृणु गुह्यं सनातनम् । येन सर्वानरीन्वत्स समरे विजयिष्यसि
Meaning · English
Rama, Rama, mighty-armed one, listen to this secret, handed down from the beginning, by which, my child, you will win over all your enemies in battle.
Agastya calls Rama by name twice, the way you call someone who is lost in thought. Then he calls him mighty-armed, reminding a tired man of the strength he already has. Calling him child is a teacher's choice, gentle and close. The secret is not new. It is old, kept and passed down, and offered now at the edge of a battle. The promise is tied to this moment: through it, Rama will overcome every enemy facing him in this fight.
Between rounds, a boxer slumps on the stool in the corner. His trainer leans in close, says his name, and speaks low into his ear. It is not a new trick but something they have drilled for years. Agastya is that voice in the corner: close, quiet, handing an old strength to a fighter who is worn out.

राम, राम, महाबाहु, यह रहस्य सुनो जो आरंभ से चला आ रहा है, जिससे, वत्स, तुम युद्ध में अपने सभी शत्रुओं को जीत लोगे।
अगस्त्य राम को दो बार नाम लेकर पुकारते हैं, जैसे विचारों में खोए किसी व्यक्ति को पुकारा जाता है। फिर वे उन्हें महाबाहु कहते हैं, और एक थके हुए व्यक्ति को उस बल की याद दिलाते हैं जो उसमें पहले से है। उन्हें वत्स कहना एक गुरु का चुनाव है, कोमल और आत्मीय। रहस्य नया नहीं है। यह पुराना है, सँजोकर रखा गया और आगे सौंपा गया, और अब युद्ध की दहलीज पर दिया जा रहा है। वचन इसी क्षण से जुड़ा है: इसके द्वारा राम इस युद्ध में अपने सामने खड़े हर शत्रु पर विजय पाएँगे।
दो दौर के बीच एक मुक्केबाज कोने में रखी तिपाई पर निढाल होकर बैठ जाता है। उसका प्रशिक्षक पास झुकता है, उसका नाम लेता है और धीमे स्वर में उसके कान में कुछ कहता है। यह कोई नया दाँव नहीं, बल्कि वह है जिसका वे बरसों से अभ्यास करते आए हैं। अगस्त्य कोने की वही आवाज हैं: पास, शांत, और थके हुए योद्धा को एक पुराना बल सौंपते हुए।
