Every God in One Light
Aditya Hridayam 7
Meaning · English
He is the self of all the gods, full of radiance, the source of rays. With his beams he guards the gods, the demons, and all the worlds.
The sun is called the self of all the gods. Whatever strength each god carries, it lives in him. He is radiant, and he is the one who brings the rays into being and keeps them coming. Then the line turns. His beams protect the gods and the demons alike, and every world besides. He does not choose a side. The same light that reaches one army reaches the other, and it keeps both of them alive.
A streetlamp on a corner lights whoever walks beneath it: a neighbor, a stranger, the man you argued with an hour ago. It never checks who is passing. The sun's beams work the same way. They hold gods and demons in the same light, because giving light is simply what they do.
