Meaning · English
Out of pride, he tried to leave. Then everyone else left too. When he returned, they all returned, like bees following their queen. Thus, the senses praise Prana.
The senses—speech, mind, sight, and hearing—each believe they are the most important part of the body. To prove them wrong, Prana, the vital life force, pretends to depart. The senses suddenly realize they cannot function alone and vanish with him. Once Prana returns, the senses reappear. This shows that the senses are dependent on the life force for their very existence.
Think of a conductor leading an orchestra. When the conductor stands up and walks off the stage, the musicians stop playing and look lost. When the conductor returns to the podium, the music starts again. Prana is the conductor, and the senses are the musicians who cannot play without the lead.
