The Universal Energy

Prashna Upanishad 2.5

Meaning · English

This is fire, the sun, the rain, the wind, and the earth. It is the material world, the divine, what is and what is not, and the deathless.

The vital breath is not just a biological function but the essence of everything. It manifests as the heat of fire, the light of the sun, and the movement of wind. It is the physical ground we walk on and the invisible force that sustains life. By identifying the breath with these elements, the text shows that the same power driving the body also drives the entire cosmos.

Consider electricity in a city. It is the same current, but it looks like light in a bulb, heat in a toaster, or motion in a motor. Similarly, the breath is the single current that appears as different physical elements across the universe.
