Prashna Upanishad 2.11
Meaning · English
You are the wandering seer and the single force that consumes all. We provide the fuel you need. You are our father.
The speakers address the vital breath as a wandering priest who sustains the entire world. By calling it a consumer, they acknowledge that breath needs food and air to function, which humans provide. They use the term father to show that this energy is the source of their existence and the primary protector of their lives.
Consider a campfire. The fire is the central force that provides warmth, but it only exists because people feed it dry wood. The fire is the power, while the wood is the offering that keeps the power alive and burning.
