Fullness That Grows Daily
Vijnana Bhairava 148
Meaning · English
Settled in any one of these ways of joining, what rises from day to day is a state of being filled. That is satisfaction here: completeness, entirely full.
Three words carry it. Yukti is a way of joining, a means of being united. Ekatama means any single one among several, so no particular way is required and one is enough. Bharita means filled, and tripti means satisfaction, the settled feeling of having been fed. Add atyanta-purnata, completeness without remainder. Now the clauses in order. A person stays within one chosen way of joining. From that, something rises dinat dinam, from day to day, so it builds across ordinary days and does not arrive in a single flash. What rises has the character of fullness, a sense of being filled. The text names that fullness as satisfaction, and calls it complete in the fullest degree. Why this works as a doorway follows the text's own logic. Nothing is brought in from outside. The ordinary moment, lived from inside one steady way of joining, is what fills. Hunger is the usual sense of lacking something, and here that lack is the thing that quietly settles. The verse measures the way by this daily fullness and by no outward sign.
A pot stands under a slow tap. Each day the water stands a little higher, and nobody pours it in by hand. Then it reaches the brim, and nothing more could be added. The tap is the one steady way of joining, the rising level is the day-by-day filling, and the brim is the completeness the verse calls satisfaction.
