Meaning · English
The elements and their essences, the senses and their objects, the organs and their functions, the mind, intellect, ego, and consciousness—all these exist.
The world is a collection of pairs. There is the physical matter of earth, water, fire, air, and space, and then there are the subtle versions of those things. There are tools like the eyes and ears, and there are the things they perceive, like sight and sound. This list extends into the inner workings of the head, including the memory, the ability to reason, the sense of self, and the flow of thought.
Think of a complete toolkit laid out on a workbench. The hammer is the tool, and the nail is what it works upon. This maps to the relationship between a sense organ and the external object it is designed to interact with.
