Meaning · English
Whoever meditates on the Highest Person using the three-part syllable AUM becomes one with the light, in the sun. As a snake is freed from its skin, they are freed from evil. The Sāman verses lead them up to the world of Brahman, and from that mass of living beings they behold the Supreme Person, higher than the highest, who dwells in the body.
One who meditates on the full three-part sound until death rises, after death, to the light of the sun. There ingrained negativity and errors fall away. The Sāman verses then lead the person up to the world of Brahman. From jīvaghana, the mass of all living souls, traditionally Hiranyagarbha, the cosmic being who rules that world, they behold the Highest Person: higher than the highest, who dwells within every body.
A snake sliding out of a dull, tight skin to reveal a fresh, bright one underneath. The old skin represents the habitual flaws and heavy baggage a person carries, while the act of shedding represents the liberation that happens when the mind aligns with the highest frequency of sound.
