The Central Pivot

Meaning · English

Realize that there is a Being in whom all these fragments are fixed like spokes in a wheel hub, so that death cannot touch you.

The world and the human body consist of many separate parts. These elements are not floating freely but are anchored to a single, central point of consciousness. By recognizing this core Being instead of focusing on the changing fragments, a person finds a stability that exists beyond the reach of physical decay and the fear of passing away.

Consider a bicycle wheel. The thin spokes are necessary, but they only hold their shape because they plug into the solid center. If the hub vanishes, the spokes collapse. The hub represents the central Being, while the spokes represent the various layers of our existence.
