Let my muttering be prayer to you, and all my handiwork the gestures of worship. Let my walking be circling you, my eating and drinking the offering, my lying down a bow. Whatever pleasure I know, given over to you, let it all be your service.

The poet asks that the whole day become worship of the Goddess, line by line. Japa is the quiet repeating of a name or prayer. Here his ordinary chatter, jalpa, is asked to count as that repeating. Mudra is a hand gesture used in worship, and he asks that every craft and task of his hands, shilpa, stand in for it. Pradakshina is walking around a sacred thing with it on your right. He asks that his every stroll become that circling. Ahuti is an offering poured into the fire. He asks that eating and drinking be that offering. Lying down to sleep becomes a full bow, and every pleasure becomes her service. The key to all of it is atmarpana, giving the self over: atma is the self, arpana is placing before. The text teaches that worship need not be a separate hour. When the self is handed to her, nothing in a day stays ordinary. The last line asks that whatever he does, saparya, which is worship, be the result. Why say this here? The verses around it describe her greatness. This one answers what a small person can give to someone so great. The poet's reply is that he has nothing separate to give, so he offers his ordinary life. Lakshmidhara reads this as worship carried into every moment, inside and out. The verse asks nothing of the reader. It shows how the poet places his own days at her feet.

A mother's child follows her about the house, handing her a spoon, a cloth, a cup, and every small errand becomes a gift to her. Nothing is set aside as the gift. The whole day of small help is one offering. So the poet's chatter, walking, meals and sleep are all handed to the Goddess.
